Searching the Database

To search for a specific plant(s), select (click on) "search" at the top of the web page.

 
   
     
  At the top of the Search page, next to "keyword", type in the key word or phrase for the plant specie(s) of interest.  
     
   
 

You do not need to enter the entire name but be careful to spell correctly.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and select (click on) the button .


This will take you to the Search Results page. You will see a list of all the plant species records that contain your keyword. The list includes both the scientific and common names of each species that was found.

 
     
   
     
  Sometimes a search will bring up more than one page of results. To navigate between pages, select from First Prev Next or Last at the top of the page.  
     
  Selecting the scientific name of your plant species of interest will take you to another page containing additional information, including one or more images.  
     
   
     
 

To navigate to other plants, select either the previous or next buttons at the top of the page.

To see the enlarged view of the plant, select the image.

To return to the Search Results page, select the close button.

 
     
     
   
     
 

The advanced search allows you to search by one or more specific fields.

Type in keywords in the appropriate field(s) and then scroll to the bottom of the page and select the button. A successful search will yield one or more plant species. Selecting the scientific name will bring you to that plant specie's full record.

 
     
     
   
     
  Selecting "Plant Groups" will bring you to a page with images and information about photosynthetic organisms organized by phyla or higher-level taxonomic groupings.
