Philadelphia will always hold a special place in my heart. Aside from spawning the organic jazz/hip-hop group the Roots, Philly is great for running up the stairs of the Philadelphia Art Museum while blasting "Eye of the Tiger" in either your iPod or head. All stereotypes aside, Philadelphia is a great city; from the upscale charm of Rittenhouse Square to the Bohemian South Street, there is always something fun to do. A personal favorite of mine is to drive into South Philly late night with my friends for a Pat's run. For the uninitiated, Pat's Steaks is the location that gave birth to the cheesesteak and put Philly on the culinary map, while simultaneously clogging the arteries of eastern Pennsylvania. There are even instructions for how to order: You Select the type of cheese (provolone, american, or the authentic Philly-way of Cheese Wiz) and then the Philly vernacular of "wit" or "wit-out" onions. There is an ineffability to eating a Philly cheesesteak outside (there is no indoor seating) in the middle of January at 2:06 A.M. Despite not being able to feel your hands, the cheesesteak is delicious. Oh yeah, one last
thing about Philly: We have the best sports fans in the nation. Where else would the fans throw snowballs at Santa or have a mini-jail in their stadium? Philly fans are intense, and I'm proud to be one.
